You can also subscribe to my newsletter for more chances and updates. Start reading The Night the Stars Fell for free here.
Right now I am not looking for any more Beta readers, but I am assembling an ARC team for Between Fate & Failure. You can apply here.
I typically update on my social media and alert my newsletter subscribers any time I am looking for ARC or Beta readers. To stay up to date with Beta and ARC team searches subscribe to my newsletter.
Yes! My current editor and proofreader is Andi L. Gregory. You can view her services and credentials on her website. In addition to my editor and my own qualifications, I also use teams of Alpha, Beta, and ARC readers.
Perhaps! If you need a Beta reader, ARC reader, or just general feedback on your book I might be able to read it depending on how much I have on my own plate. I'm also interested in the occasional author book swap or reading your book for a review or pullout quote. If you have a book you would like me to read, you can can contact me here. The more details you can provide up front about your expectations, the better.

Nope! Generative AI is theft, short and simple. I do not use it and have no intention to use it for the publication of my books.
The closest I get to using anything AI in my books are assistive AI type things such as spell check. (And even that tends to cause more trouble than help half the time.) I come up with my stories on my own without the aid of AI and do all my own writing. My cover artist is my partner (they love when I look over their shoulder while they're drawing...) and I do my own formatting. I use Canva Pro and Photoshop for some of the cover formatting and Vellum for interior formatting. Any images used are either created for me specifically or non-AI stock images, which I use extremly sparingly. (Though I do use the occasional stock image for some promotional things like backgrounds for quotes or aesthetic videos and trailers, but I actively try to make sure none of them use AI art.) I also use a professional editor and proofreader as well as teams of Alpha and Beta readers for editing and feedback. Promotional artwork for my books is done either by my partner or my oldest child. I can also draw stick figures if the moment calls for it. (So far no moments have called.)
You can learn a little more about the artists, editors, and others I work with here.
New adult is an emerging genre that combines the themes, feel, and tropes of Young Adult books but approaches them from a more mature angle that appeals more to adults. The main characters tend to be a little than in YA, most of them ranging between the ages of eighteen and their mid- to late twenties, and the problems they face have less to do with coming of age and the typical problems associated with teens.
There are some aspects of the story that may be sensitive for some readers. Content warnings for each book can be viewed here.
This series is best for ages 16 years and older.
Yes, the series is complete and contains four main books and three novellas. There are also additional short stories and conus chapters available on my Patreon. (View Patreon Stories.)
No, the novellas are not required reading for the series to makes sense, but I do recommend reading them to give you insight to certain characters and to create a more complete story.
While it may not appear this way at first, most of the characters you meet throughout the Fire and Starlight Saga are queer. There are lots of hints in the first book, The Night the Stars Fell, but as you get to know the characters better later in the series, it becomes very evident. View some of the queer rep.
There is no sex in the first book, The Night the Stars Fell. Future books have a little bit, but I'm mostly a fade-to-gray or fade-to-black author. This means that I make it pretty clear what is happening, but I don't write out a full play-by-play.
Yes, my books do have some violence that varies throughout the series. Most of the time, the violence is not overtly graphic or descriptve. You can view a list of content warnings here for more information.

Yes. Most of the time, the violence is not overtly graphic or descriptive, but it does occur on page more than once. You can view a list of content warnings here for more information.
I think the better question is "Does this series contain any straight characters?". But to answer the first question, yes. While their queerness is not always immediately obvious, almost every single character is queer in one way or another. However, this series does not focus on queer trauma or specifically to dealing with being queer. These are simply queer characters existing in a relatively queer normative world.
This series is currently intended to be a duology. I hope to have it completed in early 2025.
Yes. The spice in the first book is realtively brief and not overly graphic, but it is not closed-door or fade-to-black.
Maybe! I live in Greenville, SC, but, depending on the location and timing of the event, I may be willing to travel. If you have an event you would like to set up, email me at contact@amberdlewis.com.
